My Recent Adventures

Have not been so exciting. I have some cool blog posts to come, but they are reliant on my photographer/boyfriend coming home.

Charles has gone off to America for a while. He’s just spent a week in San Francisco doing an interesting computer music workshop at Stanford. Now he’s in Montreal to talk to some people at McGill university, and then he’s off to Toronto to another computer music festival or something.
He’ll be back in a bit over a week, and after that maybe I can get these photos I need. They are pictures of ME that I can’t take myself.

Here’s the news!

So I hear that somewhere in the world it’s something called “summer”. Meanwhile, in my part of the world, we’re totally not in that season. Some people have all the luck!

Srsly though I love winter. My birthday is coming up soon! I have a theory that people’s favourite season is always the season their birthday is in. Mine is winter, Dad’s is summer, Mum’s is spring. It works for a bunch of my other friends as well.
Recently I’ve been doing a lot of uni assignments and exams. I had a neuroscience talk on “Time in the brain” recently. My part was on the suprachiasmatic nucleus – the part that controls circadian rhythms. I had to talk for half an hour! Zounds! The exam for that subject is next Tuesday, which should be a hoot.
I’ve also been playing Nagoya Marimbas with my friend Yvonne. We’re playing it in her recital next Friday. It’s going so well! Such a cool piece. Friday is also the day of my Written Japanese exam. Woo! 120 kanji! Saturday is my spoken Japanese exam – who has exams on Saturdays? Those Japanese.
Then it’s my favourite time of year – Arts and Crafts show! I’ve been working on my jewellery a lot. It’s going to be very different from last year, and I’ll be selling my old pendants for about half price. I don’t want them anymore.
Oh and Charles is maybe moving to Sweden. Frig! Could that be any further away? Way to make my life spectacularly difficult.
Holidays soon!

Excuses.

Dear Internet,

I haven’t posted in a while. You’ll have to excuse me. I have been down in the dumps.
I think that this is mainly because of this course I’m doing at uni. I have a couple of assignments I have to do for it. I hate the course, and it’s really hard. So even though I’m on holidays, I’m still down about it.
I haven’t really been doing any projects of interest. I always think “I don’t have time to make a ___, I have to do my assignments!” and then I sit and read articles or do something vaguely related to my research, in a really unproductive way. But at least I’m doing it? Right? It’s really on my mind a lot. I’ve committed to being in two concerts soon, and I feel like I can’t take any time off these assignments to do the rehearsals. Which is stupid because the assignments aren’t even getting anywhere. I haven’t even studies for my other courses.
Charles and I are going to the coast tomorrow, which I’m excited about, but of course I’m going to have to bring my lappy and work. And then my holidays are over and the assignments are due. So I am down in the dumps and haven’t done anything fun these holidays. I just want this course to be over.
I’ve been taking photes of some of my outfits that I was proud of, but some of the photos are on film (!) and some are on Charles’ camera, and my camera sucks. So no photos for you, Internet.
Should I delete my blog? Do I just need to sneeze? Time will tell.
Love,
Chrissy.

Posts to look forward to :-)

Hello Blogger! It’s been a while! In the next few weeks or so, I plan to write a whole lot of interesting posts about stuff. Yes really! Here’s a few things that I’ll be writing about:

Observations from Japan. I’m going to do a few posts about various things: mostly fashion and shops I’ve visited. I’ll write about all the Lolita shops I looked at, the shopping areas in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto, and some general style things that are different in Japan. I’ll also try to do a post about all the stuff I bought there.
The promised BB Cream review. I bought 2 types of BB Cream in Japan – one called Vita White, and one which is by Nancome (I think).
Things To Make – modified black 3/4 length t-shirt; I’m keen to make myself a new skirt with a slightly bustled back; hair accessories; first attempt at a blouse; etc etc. I’ll write blog posts about each one.
Why I don’t consider myself a “Lolita”.
Posts about fabric jewellery: I saw in the bookshop a book about fabric jewellery, and every single project was distasteful. I thought to myself “I can do better than that! I shall write a book!” but since I’m not really a writer, maybe I will just write some blarg posts.
So there you have it. Maybe I can churn some of these out tonight? Hope you like the look of these, let me know in the comments if there’s anything else you’d like me to write about – about my trip to Japan, or some sewing questions, or whatevs. Not that I’m a professional.
