coat, shoes, shopping

A couple of purchases :-)

I am really excited about these two things!!!

Firstly, some brown sandals I’ve been looking for for AGES!  I didn’t have any sandals because I’ve been away for so many summers, but it seems like the only colours in fashion are coral (pretty, but makes my feet look nude), light tan (again makes my feet look nude), black (very nice, but a bit work-y), or mint (very pretty, but doesn’t go with my wardrobe).  I really wanted some dark brown sandals to go with my dark blue skirts and dresses.

I found them!!!  After so long searching!

They go so well with my wardrobe and they are pretty comfortable!  I love the low-ish heel, it makes any outfit look a bit better.

I have literally been wearing them nonstop.

My second purchase is if possible EVEN MORE EXCITING.  I bought a coat from Alannah Hill!
This coat took me ages to actually buy.  I went with mum to DFO and we looked at the coats in Alannah Hill, because they were all 20% off the already reduced prices!  There were a couple I liked, but I couldn’t decide and it was still a lot of money.  I wanted a new “good” coat because my old red Japan coat is getting very tired.  I’ll probably still wear it for everyday though.

This coat was actually not my first choice, there was another one with a fur hood I liked more at first.  Anyhow I went home and came back the next day with Charles, because I figured he’d have to look at me wearing whatever I buy.  We looked at the composition of the coats and the one I originally liked was all polyester.  Ew!  Whereas THIS coat (which both Charles and my mum preferred), was wool and cashmere!  It’s going to be so much warmer in Winter!  Charles commented that the colour is a sort of vintage-red, not like the modern darker reds.  It’s like a fire engine.

I’m so glad I bought this one now 🙂 The other one had toggle closures which means there was a slight gap in the front.  Chilly in winter! This one is so classic. It was marked down to $229 from like $550, and then another 20% off which took it to $183!  Bargain! And I ADORE it.

The lining is beautiful ballerinas 🙂

With my new sandals 🙂 What, it’s summer!

It reminds me of some BTSSB coats with a similar empire line.  Except less frills. And more RAD.
I love that photo.

And they’re my purchases!

Yumetenbo and Wedding Shoes!

This post is mostly a stream of consciousness and some shoes I like.  It has opinions.
So I find most “Bridal Shoes” kind of ugly.  I don’t really like the satin-covered look.  Doing a quick google search of “wedding shoes” and a couple of clicks later I get this:
Which is pretty much an embodiment of all the stuff I hate about wedding shoes.  They often seem to have that shape – elongated and pointy at the toe, stiletto heel that’s not high, boring back and strap.  Not only are these fabric-covered, but also embroidered!  Lumpy.  Other types are mostly strappy heels, which I also don’t like.  My toes are not for public display.  I suppose these heels would be comfortable, which is a massive plus on a day when you don’t want to get sore feet.
I know some women get the shoes covered to match their gowns, and I agree that it’s a nice idea.  But by the same token, there are lots of amazing normal shoes that I’d love to have for my wedding.  Normal shoes might be better because you can actually wear them again.  Normal shoes won’t be damaged forever if you get them wet or *gasp* muddy.
Ideally, I would like these Baby, The Stars Shine Bright shoes for my wedding.  They’re the Princess Drop Chandelier shoes or something like that.  They’re out of stock everywhere.  I think I saw them in Paris but never bought them 😦 Silly.  I love the gold filigree touches.  A very elegant shape too.
So today I was browsing Yumetenbo – a site I often browse but have never bought from.  It’s all in Japanese.  Some girls can manage to navigate well enough to buy but I’m not that confident yet.  I found some lovely shoes I’d totally wear to my wedding (or anyone else’s)!  The great thing about this online store is that a lot of the shoes are available in many colours!  Click on the pretty pictures to go to the websites!

Probably these would be good in beige or white, depending on the dress colour.  I love double straps – super cute.
Just simple Mary-Jane pumps.  SO MANY COLOURS.  These would go with any outfit.
I love these.  So simple and elegant.  The bow is detachable so you can wear them as normal pumps or as cutie cute cute pumps!
And inevitably I start looking at other kinds of shoes…

These have an interesting wedge heel.  I think it’s totally weird but also awesome!  Plus, more double strap action!  I’d get it in pink or in spots!
These shoes are just gorgeous.  I’d be almost as tall as Charles in these!  I love the red shoes best.  Most of my wardrobe is red or black.
Oh dear!  It just occurred to me!  Maybe I just love the shoes because the models are so cute!  Look at them!  Awwwwww!

SS shoes and an outfit

I ordered these Secret Shop shoes from Qutieland back in June.  It was a pre-order, so it was always going to take a while for them to come.  They ended up arriving on the 11th of December, ONE DAY after I left the country.  So I only got to see them when I got home 2 weeks ago!
They fit super well!  And they’re very comfortable.  I wore them at uni all day yesterday, and did a lot of walking and standing up and playing marimba.

The heel is big but it’s nice and thick too.

Sorry this photo is so bad.  Bad camera I guess, or bad lighting.

I curled my hair but you wouldn’t know it.
Look!  I have a new present hanging on my bookcase!
I’ve been wanting to do more outfit posts but it’s been hot!  I don’t like wearing my really nice dresses when it’s hot.
paint, philosophy, shoes

Day 8

Today I went to uni and worked really hard doing lots of things.  I went to my first philosophy/maths tutorial.  Before the tute I was really nervous because the lecturer said we had to contribute in class because we’d be marked on it.  I did the readings and was freaking out because they were complicated and dense.

In class, we first went round the circle and introduced ourselves.  Most people are science students majoring in physics or maths.  I’m the only person who is doing music or psychology, let alone music/psychology.  Questions were asked and the floor was open.
We spent the whole time talking about the door and its brownness and how everyone has a different experience of the door.  What does the door think of itself?  Is it really there?  How come we experience it as solid when it is composed of atoms that are mostly empty space?  Who am I?  Who are you?  Are you really there, are you sure you’re not somewhere else?  What’s that over there?  What do you think is over there?  How do you experience red?  Does it really matter whether you see red the same way as me?  How is that relevant?  How is it not relevant?  How does the door exist without our physical and mental experiences of it?  Is it still a door or is it something else?

Blah blah blah.
Conclusion: out of all the shoes in the class, I liked mine best.  I’m wearing the brown ankle boots with a pointy toe and no heel that cost me $15.  The ones that cracked and peeled 5 seconds after I bought them because they’re not leather.  The ones that have coats and coats of brown acrylic paint on them to cover up the scratches.  They are So Choice.  They fit So Nice.
Sometimes I find it really difficult to mix the right shade of paint for my shoes.  Usually the paint dries a little darker than the wet colour, so I have to be careful.  Right now I’ve got a pretty good match.  You’d have to look really closely to figure out that they’re painted.  Everyone has a different experience of my boots.
One girl was wearing blue cons, which I also liked, and one dude was wearing some cool skate shoes with red stripes.
GET YOUR FLESH OFF!  EVERYTHING WE’VE DONE, WE’VE DONE IT!  YEAH!!!!!
