sewing, skirt

Day 36

Woo another skirt!  How many am I going to make?  MILLIONS!

It’s a bit blurry because the photo was taken at NIGHT.
Anyway, this skirt is inspired by this skirt over at Burdastyle.  Except that this one has pockets, not just pretend pockets.  I was helped along a bit by some kind of pattern, but this was mostly my own pattern.  The pockets were hard to do!
It is lined by an old flannelette sheet.  Reduce, re-use, recycle!
I tried to iron some of my hems and the skirt fabric actually melted!  How crazy is that?!?!  Luckily it was only on a tiny bit.  Next time I iron it, I’ll make sure it’s on a low heat!  Next time I make a skirt, I’ll make sure it’s not polyester!
This skirt fits me really well, because I made it with my measurements.  So that is good.  But I sort of wish I hadn’t used such bright contrasting fabric.  It makes it hard to wear.
Oh whoops… I forgot to put buttons on the front.  Oh well!
Hugs!

Day 22

One of my best friends ordered a pendant off my Etsy store!  It’s my first sale (and probably my only sale) so I wanted to show my thanks.  I made her a little pouch to keep the pendant in when it’s not being worn.

It’s made of a wide satin ribbon and trimmed with lace, embroidered with 3 strands of gold thread.  First!

Day 21

Finally up to date!

Now I want to make it clear that this is not real fur.  So from here on I will call it “fuer”.
This is a fuer stole which is lined with satiny slimy material.  It’s not really slimy either… just slippy.  Tied at the front with a ribbon.  I got this pattern from somewhere on the internet.  Not sure if I like it or not, probably because my fuer was the cheap kind rather than the $50 per metre kind.
Shortly after making this I acquired a real fur stole which is much more rad.  Good-bye fuer!

Day 5

I made a top. It was going to be a dress, and maybe it will be sometime. I found a top that fits me well and traced it for the bodice. The bust is gathered a little at the front. The strap was modeled on the one Venus Williams had at the Hopman Cup (I think). It goes through a keyhole at the front and joins the back in the same way regular straps do. It’s kind of a mix between a halter neck and spaghetti straps. All hand-stitched.
