Wishlist

Everyone seems to have a wishlist on their blog.   I love looking at them, and well, I do have a few wishes myself.  My wishlist is quickly diminishing because the style I like is becoming more and more focussed.  I used to want all the pretty things – now I just like a few things that suit my style.  Let’s get this show on the road!
Click on the pictures to go to the websites!
The number one thing that I want, the thing I’m pining for daily, is this cream coloured jacket from Mary Magdalene.
Sometimes I check their website to see if they’ve re-released it, but never!  They so rarely release anything.  It never comes up on the sales community either.  I guess I could post a Want To Buy!  VM did a similar jacket but it’s just not good enough!!
Next is a dress I tried on when I went to the Victorian Maiden Press Room in 2010, the Dorothy Doll Dress.
I like this burgundy colour.  It has little frill sleeves and a collar part with detachable bow.  The ruffles are full and glorious.  Looks lovely with or without a blouse underneath.
This dress is also sold out.  I have high hopes of them doing a re-release sometime in the future, because this was originally a Beth dress back in like 2008.
Next – a replica of a Victorian Maiden dress by Surface Spell – available through Qutieland.  The reason why I haven’t bought this one is that I don’t know what colour would suit me.  It’s available in heaps of colours!
I like the silhouette of this – it’s not too puffy and you could wear it for a vintage look.
This coat from Melche Shutilforc – a brand that I discovered for the first time a few weeks ago.  I really like all of their stuff, but this coat looks really nice and warm.
It’s got lovely embroidery and a detachable fluffy collar.  And pockets!  I need pockets.
Also really like this skirt from Melche Shutilforc.  I really like that brand now!
It’s really pretty and tasteful, falls nicely and isn’t too fussy.
That’s all actually.  No other wants!  I expect this post will be added to periodically.
If anyone has any of these things they’d like to sell me, my feedback is here!

SS shoes and an outfit

I ordered these Secret Shop shoes from Qutieland back in June.  It was a pre-order, so it was always going to take a while for them to come.  They ended up arriving on the 11th of December, ONE DAY after I left the country.  So I only got to see them when I got home 2 weeks ago!
They fit super well!  And they’re very comfortable.  I wore them at uni all day yesterday, and did a lot of walking and standing up and playing marimba.

The heel is big but it’s nice and thick too.

Sorry this photo is so bad.  Bad camera I guess, or bad lighting.

I curled my hair but you wouldn’t know it.
Look!  I have a new present hanging on my bookcase!
I’ve been wanting to do more outfit posts but it’s been hot!  I don’t like wearing my really nice dresses when it’s hot.

Qutieland/KidsYoYo/Dear Celine REVIEW!!

KidsYoYo Mary Style Elegant High Collar Blouse and Dear Celine Rhyme of Winter Flocking jumperskirt

On 9th of March, I ordered and paid for these two items off Qutieland’s new website. The new ordering process was straightforward and simple. I had to give a lot more measurements than usual, which was kind of time-consuming, but I guess that’s what they need to make a well-fitting garment.

After I finished on the website, I got an email from Billy asking for MORE measurements, including an arm measurement. I got an email back saying that my arm measurement is well below the minimum the store makes, and that I must have done it wrong. I’m really grateful that he didn’t just push my stupid measurement through, or I would have ended up with a weird looking blouse. I think that both Qutieland and KidsYoYo must double-check measurements and things to ensure a quality garment. I feel very lucky to have such good customer service for such a low price!

The Qutieland website has a “track your order” function, which I found really fun (and addictive… I was checking daily) and informative. On that page I could see everything about my order, even that they had to ask for that extra arm measurement!

Communication and customer serivice: 5/5.

The estimated making time was listed as 25 days, excluding weekends. That’s 5 weeks. I got my shipping number on 29 April. It ended up taking 7 weeks and 6 days to arrive, including shipping time. I know that the Dear Celine dress was ready first, so we had to wait on KidsYoYo for a while. These shops must be busy! I know that KidsYoYo have been busy because they’re apparently moving their factory (!) and they have that big Marionet Girl series they’re doing right now. The shipping was EMS, which has always been reliable in my experience. The package was soft, with two separate plastic bags inside. The blouse was in two plastic bags (?) so I guess it was EXTRA protected.

Time taken: 3/5

Shipping: 5/5.

On to pictures and reviews of the garments!

KidsYoYo Mary Style High Collar Blouse: 4.5/5

Fabric: The fabric is a slightly stretch cotton. The lace is high quality. The only issue is that the colour is pure white, but in the stock photo it looks like a cream colour. Maybe I’ll tea-dye? Last time I tea-dyed my lace turned out pink. Maybe not.

Fit: This fits beautifully. The sleeves are just the right length!!! Please note that the ruffles on the ends of the sleeves are humongous.

Workmanship: As far as I can tell, the workmanship is lovely! The pintucks are all even and straight, and the lace is sewn in nicely. A cool thing is that there’s a press stud in between the buttons at the bust line, so you can never have a gappy blouse! Such a nice touch, and well hidden. The detachable bow is really cute, and the blouse looks good with or without it. It came with four extra buttons, an extra press stud, and an extra brooch pin. Just in case!!

Here it is, fresh from the bag!

Close up of the label, collar, bow, and lace.

Dear Celine Flocky Jsk: 4.5/5

Fabric: The black part of this dress is made from thin velvet-type fabric. The flocking is grey wool with black velvet patterns. The whole thing is fully lined with black sateen. The fabric seems like it will be quite warm. There is a nice lace detail at the front which might not be as nice as the lace on the blouse, but is also not as integral to the design, so no matter.

Fit: I deliberately ordered this a little bigger than the blouse because I wanted to be sure it would fit over the top of a blouse or whatever. I needn’t have, as it is a pretty large fit on me. It does fit, but I have to do the corset lacing up pretty tight (all the way) before it feels really snug. This is my own fault! One weird thing is that the front bodice is a bit gappy at the top, just above my bust. It’s not really noticeable, especially with a pretty blouse underneath.

Workmanship: This is just lovely. The pintucks and ruffles on the bodice are really well done, and the ruffle at the bottom of the skirt is even and falls nicely. I’m really happy with this dress! It also came with two extra bow pins, which are pretty and have a jewel in the centre. As per stock picture!

Fresh out of the bag! With extra bow pins.

Close up of detail on bodice – turns out velvet doesn’t photograph too well. Pintucks, centre lace, trim, and ruffle at the top.

Print/fabric detail.
Fully lined!

Both items being worn – looking to the left.

Another view – looking slightly right. Now with bonus chin!

Overall: 4.25/5. This is great! I’m totally wearing these things RIGHT NOW!

KidsYoYo and Qutieland Review

Part 1
Thursday, 17th September: Today I ordered this lovely KidsYoYo OP in the blue floral fabric from Qutieland. This is the original Mary Magdalene one (about twice as expensive) that it’s based on. Beautiful, isn’t it! Charles says it looks like it’s from Mushroom Kingdom. I am cool with that assessment. I emailed Qutieland with a query about size, and I got a reply saying that they will make the dress according to my measurements, and not to a fixed size. They will take my measurements and add 3 – 4cm for ease, and there is lacing at the back. This dress is supposed to take 20 – 25 working days to make. That’s a max of 5 weeks!
It ended up being $133 AUD, shipping included.

Part 2
Tuesday, 20th October: Today my dress arrived! It was folded neatly in a plastic bag in a postage bag. It needed an iron when I took these photos, but I couldn’t resist putting it on immediately! The quality is really good. It is lined with a thin cotton fabric, and the outer fabric is cotton. The tiered underskirt is made from cotton broderie anglaise. The dress comes with two bow brooches, one made of the dress fabric and one made of a complimentary colour – in this case, a dark aqua kind of colour. I didn’t expect two! Very happy.
The sewing is all good, a couple of loose threads but that’s normal. It fits me really well and I’m totally happy.
The only weird thing is that I didn’t get notified that it was shipped until about 5 hours after it arrived. My dress traveled through time. Best dress ever.

Photos! I’m not wearing much of a petticoat (I have one on order from Qutieland ^.^) but you get the idea.

Here’s the dress as it came, with tag and two brooches:
Here’s a close-up of the two brooches. I’m really happy that they’re brooches and not sewn on. Now I can use one on my dress and one on my jacket!
I’ve always been happy with my purchases from Qutieland, and this is no exception. Winner!
