No spending in October – how did I do?

This October, I have succeeded in not buying anything unneccesary.  I have been to the shops lots of times and managed to come away with only groceries and things I really needed.  No clothes or makeup has been bought, or books, or games, or music, shoes, or hair care.  It’s been really great!

Success!

Wearing all my dresses this month has made me realise that I don’t really need more clothes until the old ones are gone.  I’ve come to appreciate what I have more, and learned how to wear those dresses that are tricky to coordinate.

I’ve also saved a bunch of money.  It’s good to know I can do that, because living is expensive and I’ve never been rich.  Now I feel more able to go forward without spending more money than I need to.

So I’m going to make a donation to Frocktober right now, to help in their cause to find an early detection test for ovarian cancer.  I hope you can all donate too!

It’s November in a couple of days, and Charles has decided to not spend any money for that whole month!  He’s calling it No-Money-Vember.  He’ll be fine!

So thanks for looking at my blog this October!  I’m going to keep up my momentum as best I can, take outfit photos and wear the rest of my wardrobe!  Should I do Skirtvember?  Sockvember?

Frocktober 28th!

Today’s dress is over three years old now, but I don’t wear it very much.  Can you tell why?

THE FRILLZ REIGNETH!
This dress is a Mary Magdalene replica (or semi-replica), by Qutieland.  You can get one like it here, but they’ve sold out of this fabric.
This morning we went to an antiques auction!  There was lots of lovely china but I didn’t bid on anything.  It’s too scary!
We also had a nice afternoon tea – with Candy Corn we bought from America!

Here’s a photo of me back in 2009 when I got this dress.  I was so excited!  And this is also conclusive proof that I am getting less gooby in photos. Slightly.

Frocktober 27th!

Today was a busy Satuday!  First we went to the church garage sale, and then I went off to work, and then we went to the Nara Candle Festival!  I wore a casual dress.

Weird face weird face! Wrinkly pink tights!

This dress is my oldest item of clothing (possibly) and I just love it.  I have no idea where I got it because it was so long ago!  I think it’s probably from around 2004.  Here’s a photo of me in 2005 – right at the end of high school.  It was taken late at night by Charles after we got back from a movie I think!

And here’s some photos of the Nara Candle Festival!  We met a friend and her little boy there.  Here they are playing the Taiko drums!

 Kites!

 Candles!

Frocktober 26th!

Today I wore two dresses!  But I only took good photos of the first one.  I was busy today!
This dress I made back in January 2010!  I haven’t worn it much because it’s too tight around my chest. I think I might cut off the bodice and make a skirt from it.  Here’s the original post form when I made it!

Me back when I made it.

Then since the dress was strangling me, I changed into my Gilroy Garlic Dress!  Much more comfy.  The tights have little hearts on them and are from Forever 21.

Frocktober 25th!

Today’s dress is a bit strange for me, as it’s very short and doesn’t have a defined waist!  The skirt part fluffs out from my hips so it’s not very flattering.  Nevertheless, I really love it!

Today was spent at the library, working at a computer all day.  Kind of boring!

 Back bow detail.

 My big dumb smiling face.

Dress detail: I Love Milk.

This dress is from Uniqlo, Paris.  It is a collaboration between Uniqlo and Milk – a famous and long-running lolita/casual brand from Japan.

This dress comes with old worn photos too!  Me mucking about in Sweden after buying it in Paris.  We spent Christmas in Paris in 2010 and it was bizarre!  Not romantic at all!  Everything was closed and we had Christmas lunch at McDonald’s!

Should I cut my fringe like that again?
