frocktober

Frocktober starts tomorrow!

Oh my goodness you guys!  It’s nearly Frocktober time and I can’t believe how fast the year has gone!

Here is my Frocktober page where you can donate to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund!  Every time you do an ovary says thankyou!

I have had a look at all my dresses and sorted them into categories: work appropriate, not work appropriate, and hard to wear.  Unsurprisingly, all of my Lolita dresses fall into the last category.  Here’s my list (a lot of the names are things only I’d understand):

Work appropriate:

Luck be a lady dress in red

Luck be a lady dress in purple
Luck be a lady dress in green
Luck be a lady dress in dots
Luck be a lady dress in blue dots
Luck be a lady dress in scholar
Luck be a lady dress in potpourri
Grey dress similar to Luck be a lady dress
Blue “vintage” dress
Red black tartan
Purple Soda fountain dress
Red and blue hearts dress
Green tartan dress from Felt
Pink spots dress from Felt
Perth floral pink dress
Cue polkadot dress
Colette Hawthorn
Fireside glow

Not work appropriate :
Tree of life dyed dress
Garlic dress
Old brown dress
Indie darling
Galaxy dress

Hard to wear:
Review dress red
Review dress black
Cue black dress
VM adele
Vm British check
VM ribbon stripe
Etc dress
Melche shutilforc dress
Silk cherubims
Spotty black tight dress

A lot of the “hard to wear” dresses are too tight or too frilly.  Some of the “work inappropriate” dresses are just worn out!  And most of my work dresses are Luck Be A Lady.  My plan is to wear the “hard to wear” and “work inappropriate” dresses when I’m on holidays, for the next two weeks.  Just making things easy for myself!
I have some dresses I’m planning to sell, so obviously I’m not including them in my Frocktober!  Also, I hope to make some more dresses which I’ll wear instead of something on this list.  Hopefully, by the end of the month I’ll know which dresses I want to toss out!  This list has more than 31 dresses in it, so I’ll skip some of course.  And I’ll try to save the best til last!!
All ready to go!

Monday Musings… Frocktober!

I’ve officially done it!  I’ve made a real Frocktober profile page and I’m going to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation!

Woo!

Frocktober starts in like a week and I’m pumped.  My goal is to wear a different dress every day of the month – same as last year, except I’ll try not to cheat this time!

You can find my Frocktober profile page here.
Here is a list of all my previous Frocktober posts
And here are some of my favourite outfits from last year!

This year’s dresses are going to be SO MUCH RADDER YOU GUYS.  Please support me!

Frocktober 31st! Halloween!

Today is Halloween!  We thought it was no big deal in Australia, but we were visited but a whole bunch of kids!  Two of whom were our own students who now know where we live!

So I rushed up to the shops to buy extra lollies (we had some but were running low), and popped on my creepy makeup!  I’m not exactly dressed as anything for Halloween (my Starfleet officer uniform fell through as I couldn’t find a jacket I thought I had), so I’m going for gothicy-creepy-but-it’s-too-hot-for-a-blouse.

For my makeup I just used a liquid eyeliner to draw on a spiderweb and a spider.  This was my makeup when we took outfit shots…

And THIS is my makeup after I did some extra!  I just used one of those eyeshadows I don’t like much to paint my entire face blue.

And here’s an old photo of me in this dress and a black blouse.  Someome’s party years ago.

Well tomorrow I might have a well-earned day off!  But then I’ll post the last dresses in a few days!  I have five more to go: my Emily Temple Cute dress, two Victorian Maiden OPs, a spotty dress from London, and a dress from Cue.  So how many is that altogether?  Gosh.

Frocktober 30th!

Second last day of October!  Gosh time flies when I’m blogging every single day.
Today’s dress is a secondhand dress that I bought relatively recently.  When it arrived, it was absolutely filthy, like the girl who owned it had just worn it until it was unwearable, then sold it.  It came out really nice when I washed it though – and the water in the tub was dark brown when I was finished.  Why didn’t she wash it herself?  It was bizarre.
Although it’s newly bought, I had been after this dress for a long time, since I tried it on at the Victorian Maiden Press Room in Osaka, 2010.  I really wanted the burgundy version, but I am very happy with what I got.

With my Alice and the Pirates cardigan.  You guys must seriously be sick of this cardigan now.

Today was a bit rainy when we were taking pictures.  I like Canberra in the rain.

Dress: Victorian Maiden‘s Dorothy Doll Dress.
Shoes: Payless
Cardigan: Alice and the Pirates

Frocktober 29th!

Today’s dress is a party dress I bought in London two years back, when I was suffering from the most heinous cold.  Charles and I were there with another friend for New Year’s Eve right after visiting Paris for Christmas.  I can’t believe how sick I was, it was intense.  We went to the Camden town markets and I couldn’t talk without coughing, and I just bought two dresses without even trying them on because I wanted to feel better.  I was a zombie.  There’s another dress coming in the next two days that I bought on the same night!

 Cardigan: SES

I never really think that halter necks look good on me.  Maybe I just don’t like how it feels on my necky neck.  Nice and cool for summer though!
Here’s me at This Is Not Art in 2011.  Charles and I performed our duo there!

And here’s me at Christmas last year.  Right before I went off to Sweden for a month!  It was nice and warm at home 🙂

This picture reminds me – I forgot to wear the waist ribbon today!
