Thursday, Frocktober the 10th! Victorian Maiden!

Today I’m wearing a favourite of mine – Victorian Maiden’s Rose Stripe Shirring dress
It goes quite well with my Miette cardigan that I knitted.
Today I’m having lunch with a friend, and it’s forecast to be 31 degrees today!  31!  That’s just like summer already.  So I may be forced to change into a cooler dress later.  Even though this is a “summer” Lolita dress, it’s quite warm.  There’s a lot of fabric, and all that shirring feels like someone’s giving me a warm hug.  Plus petticoat.
Yesterday I finished my part of mum’s jacket, now she has to hem it and do the closures.  I’m really pleased that it’s mostly finished now!  I’ve also done 5 rows on my crochet project (full post when it’s done).  Today I hope to do some more crochet and maybe try looking at that dress I’m sewing!  I like writing my to-dos here, it keeps me doing stuff!

Wednesday, Frocktober the 9th! Emily Temple Cute

Today’s dress is Emily Temple Cute! I bought it at a local Lolita swap meet… gosh I can’t even remember who I bought it from.  I’ve been considering selling this dress for a while now, but it is so darn cute!
I like it best with a cardigan on, because it hides the weird straps at the top.  They look like they’re on backwards because they’re just black ribbon with white spots.
 It’s a dress-print dress!  A meta dress!
This is the other side of our cute little kitchen.  Today I’m going over to mum’s to FINISH THIS JACKET of hers finally.
Here is my current list of projects: 3 knitting projects, 1 crochet project, 1 dress, 1 jacket (mum’s).  I finished that pair of undies and I started doing my crochet blanket again – that deserves a full post.  But yesterday I discovered that my sewing machine has a STRETCH STITCH – and I don’t know how to work it.  So I can’t do my dress until I figure that out.  There aren’t enough hours in the day!  I’m still behind from daylight savings!

Tuesday, Frocktober the 8th! Dressed for a coffee

A couple of gooby photos today… apparently I kept talking and got photos of me in the middle of words!  These were the two best photos out of 9.
I’m in our kitchen!  It’s tiny.  This dress is from Felt, a cute little shop in civic.  I’m fairly sure it’s upcycled from an old dress.  Very casual and simple!
I’m glad to be home after such a tiring trip to Newcastle.  Today I’m meeting a friend for coffee (soon) and then I’m going to focus on finishing some craft projects before going to my brother’s house for dinner.  I keep starting projects and not finishing them!  And now my house is full of half-done projects. Things I need to finish: 3 knitting projects, 1 crochet project, 1 pair of undies (sewn), 1 dress (sewn), 1 percussion composition.  I’m not allowed to start anything new until some of that is done!

Monday, Frocktober the 7th! Newcastle shopping day.

Today we did a bit of shopping/eating in Darby Street, Newcastle.  It was very fashionable!  We were in Newcastle doing some of Charles’ ipad music, with our friend Jonathan, pictured here:
I’m afraid that’s the only photo I took today. After we did some shops, we came home!  The traffic was really bad since it was the last day of a long weekend, it took us a looooong time to get home.  Since that was the only photo from today, here’s one from frocktober last year so you can see the cute top of the dress:
It was a nice trip to Newcastle!  The three of us stayed in a huge apartment. All very good!

Sunday, Frocktober the 6th! Electrofringe in a garlic dress?!

Today we got up super early in the morning to drive to Newcastle for Electrofringe!  The reason we had to get up so early is because we were scheduled to perform at 2, and today Daylight Savings started!  Newcastle is about 5 hours drive away, so… we got up at 6:30 (old time) and only just got here in time.  We did stop for breaks though!
It is hot here!  This photo was taken at about 7pm when it was cooling down but it was like 33 degrees earlier.
This is my Garlic dress… because I bought it at Gilroy outlets in California almost exactly one year ago.  Oh and Gilroy is famous for growing garlic and the whole time we were there it stank of garlic.  It was this swelteringly hot day in Gilroy and the garlic fields got smellier as the day got hotter.  Imagine living in Gilroy if you didn’t like garlic.
Neck gear today is a cool dinosaur necklace my friend Pete gave me, and my electrofringe artist pass!  Electrofringe is associated with This Is Not Art (TINA), which is a pretty big arts festival on this long weekend here every year.  Next year I’d like to go for the whole weekend, not just sunday!  We’re staying overnight and coming home tomorrow yay!
