sewing, skirt

Day 38

I know just the thing you need, boys – another skirt!!

I cut off my head in the photo because I looked like a FREAK.
This skirt was inspired by something I saw on sew_loli last week.  I had lots of fun taking measurements, making a pattern, and working out how it works.
This flowery material is – another – old sheet.  I love the print.  The sheet was a bit worn in the middle, and there wasn’t much, so some of my panels had to be cut the other way.  Hence, the front of the skirt is thick at the top and thin at the bottom, but the back of the skirt is thick at the bottom and thin at the top!  The plain blue fabric is plain blue fabric.
There was only one hiccough when I sewed it all up and it didn’t fit – that was soon fixed.
This project was really fun.  I’m really happy with the result, too.  I’m going to a morning tea party on Sunday and I plan to wear this.  Yay!
Only two more posts before the end of my (failed) thing a day!  What’s it going to be?  ANOTHER SKIRT MAYBE?
Ahhh ha ha ha ha ha ha HAAAA!

*thunder* *lightning*
Note:  In this picture I’m wearing one of my petticoats.  This one, actually.

Day 37

My mum was all “Chrissy we’ve got to get rid of some of your old stuff” because my old dolls and teddies are sitting in the other room, not being played with.

These two dolls used to have luscious blonde hair. But when I picked them up, it perished in my fingers. Big Doll used to have short wavy hair, very manageable. Little Doll’s long straight hair had always looked a bit stupid – I could never seem to comb it so it would sit nicely.

I decided that I would remove it all and give them new hair.

I could remove all their hair just by rubbing it. I bought some curly doll hair from Spotlight. But now there is a problem – it looks really hard to use, and I’m not sure whether it will look good. There are several ways of applying doll hair, and they’re all really tedious and difficult, and it looks like they all hurt fingers.

Also, I think they look awesome and punk.

So what should I do? Knit them hats? Suggestions welcome.
