MORE SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRTS!

Another one!!!

Here’s a box-pleated skirt I made about a month or two ago. It’s a bit *business-like* but also has a bit of body. The waistband is from a commercial pattern and the skirt is from my imaginings. Box pleats! Imagine that.

Outfit Rundown:
Skirt: Handmade
Jacket: SES
Blouse: ValleyGirl
Shoes: Cheap shoe shop that has now disappeared.

Here you can see a hanger!

Look! The lining has spots!

Skirt post!

Here’s a skirt I made quite a while ago (RL friends will know it well) but I never posted it because I totally nicked the design off a girl from sew_loli and I worried that she’d get upset. Now I realise that she’d be flattered. It’s a normal rectangle skirt with the stretch lace sewn on top so that it fits snugly around my waist.

I’ll do a daily_lolita here.
Outfit rundown:
Skirt: Handmade
Shoes: Vintage
Cardigan: OHNOIFORGET
Here it is in its natural habitat. Fabrics: Blue and white polka dot cotton, stretch lace, normal lace, ribbon, zip.
Here you can actually see the dots and the pretty lace. Pretty!
holidays

Holidays!

I’m on HOLIDAYS now and I’ve started sewing again!

Yesterday I made a SECRET CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR CHARLES and hemmed some fabric to make a silky scarf for my mum…
It was soooo hard. I swore and threw chiffon at the sewing machine because I couldn’t do the tiny hems. But I did it in the end! ^.^ it’s good!
Today I’m making an A-line skirt (again for my mum) for Christmas. It’s a vintage pattern I found somewhere. Quick and easy!
I have a big pile of fabric in my room with post-it notes on each piece… “dress”… “skirt for mum”… “re-fashion skirt”… “bows”… “blouse”… “pyjamas?!”… etc. I mainly kept that pyjama fabric so mum wouldn’t throw it out! I bet I won’t even make pyjamas.
I’ll attempt to take photos of all the stuff I make, and all the stuff I made and didn’t take photos of yet. Mainly skirts, as I am terrified of actually making a blouse. What is wrong with me.
poo

Say No To Poo!

My friend once told me “I don’t use shampoo… I use real poo!”

I read Victoria Suzanne’s post about her beauty products and noticed that she uses Sodium Bicarbonate instead of shampoo. I am never satisfied with the way shampoo leaves my hair so I researched this a little bit.
It turns out that there’s a “movement” (lol) called “No Poo”, which is basically using more natural (or at least chemically simpler) substances than shampoo. Many people on the blogosphere seem to agree that the chemicals in shampoo are detrimental to hair – especially the stuff in it that acts as a detergent.
Lots of people seem to use BiCarb to wash, and then apple cider vinegar to condition. The plan is that if you follow the regime for a while, you will need to wash your hair much less often, like once a week instead of every other day.
I didn’t have any apple cider vinegar (actually I did, but only found it after I’d finished, staring at me from an obvious place on the shelf) so I thought I’d just try with the BiCarb. I mixed one tablespoon in one cup of water, as per the vast majority of instructions. It’s weird because it doesn’t lather, and it gives no impression that it’s doing anything at all. But when I dried my hair, it was clean as anything!
Without using conditioner, or apple cider vinegar, it is kind of unruly and gets a lot of knots. Despite this, it feels unusually soft so I guess BiCarb is gentler than regular shampoo.
When I get around to using the apple cider vinegar, I’ll update again. This could just be frigging fantastic.

Giveaways?

So the lovely Ra at Gothic Lolita Sewing and other Amusements is having a rad giveaway – leave a comment and she’ll make one lucky person a lolita winter coat pattern. I would really like to make myself a winter coat so of course I left a comment. It’s a really kind thoughtful giveaway. The occasion is that her blog is 2 years old. My blog is almost 2 years old too – so I’m thinking about some giveaways.

But what the heck could I give? One of my leftover pendants? How crappy. A handmade skirt? As far as I can tell, there’s only one girl who follows my blog, and that’s Ra. If I had a million loli girls following my blarg, I’m sure that would be fine, but also I think they might *hate* me for not wearing socks. Alack me!
Anyway. You should follow Gothic Lolita Sewing and Other Amusements because it’s highly amusing. I know I do!
