Frocktober the 10th!

Today we went into town and used some of our wedding gift vouchers at David Jones.  We were out all morning and managed to get two cups and saucers, a set of 4 plates, and a light summer doona.  Plus some pants for Charles since his totally fell to bits!  I didn’t buy anything for myself because I’m sticking to my challenge of not buying anything all October.

This dress is from Felt (a little shop in Civic).  It’s made out of a vintage dress.  I suspect that they’ve gotten an old shirtdress, cut off the sleeves, shortened it, and put elastic in the waist.  I find it a good simple piece to wear teaching.

These are our purchases!  Charles has an espresso cup and I have a teacup.  They look funny together because his is so tiny ^_^ They are Royal Doulton and the series is Fable.

Frocktober the 9th!

After a long day of work, I finally got round to taking outfit photos.  Sorry for poor lighting.

Today work was at the library… doing non-library tasks.  I sat at a computer for 6 hours boo.

Dress: Koom (a shop in the city)
Cardigan: Forever 21

Me moving my hair, Charles took the photo right in the middle of the sweep!  But that shows you the top of the dress.  I really like the darts at the neckline.  This dress has a very full skirt AND POCKETS, so it’s my go-to dress for work.

October challenge – Don’t buy any stuff!

Now that we’re home from America, settling back into daily life, I really want to start saving money.  I hope that Charles and I can afford to move into our own place sometime in the next year, and that certainly won’t happen if I keep buying dresses and makeup!

So I’ve decided to ONLY BUY FOOD AND NECESSARY ITEMS this month.  I’m even going to try not buying unnecessary food, like lollies and stuff.  I want to make some clothes and trinkets, but I’m not going to buy any new patterns or fabrics.  I’ll use my enormous stash.

This means that during Frocktober there will be a few repeats (although I already own LOTS of dresses), and I’m going to have to get a bit creative with what I wear.  I’ll also get to use up a few of my makeup products and THROW OUT THE BOTTLES, which is something I love doing.

So wish me luck!

And here’s a picture of a Sheltie with a stick.

Frocktober the 8th!

My iPad keeps auto correcting me to frock river! Or frock toner!

Today’s dress is also from Modcloth. It’s their Hollywood and Vine Dress!  Unfortunately the dress seems to have been taken down in the few days since I bought it.  I altered the dress because it was way too big and shapeless.  I put elastic in the waist and sewed a big pleat up the back.  That pulled it in a bit nicer.  I’m thinking of doing some darts at the front to make it more fitted, but might leave it.

Shoes: Irregular Choice.  I must admit to not wearing these shoes all day!  I wore something more comfortable, but these shoes go nicely, right?

Belt: Cue (came with another dress).

Our new house is so much nicer for taking pictures inside than my old house!
